un 2 00 1 Charmless final states and S – D - wave mixing in the ψ ′ ′ 1

چکیده
The ψ = ψ(3770) resonance is expected to be mainly cc̄(1D1), but tensor forces and coupling to charmed particle pairs can mix it with ψ(2S1) and other states. Implications of this mixing for decays of ψ to non-charmed final states are discussed. (i) The ratio Γ(ψ → γ + χc2)/Γ(ψ′′ → γ + χc0) is expected to be highly suppressed if ψ is a pure D-wave state, and is enchanced by mixing. (ii) The expected decay ψ → ρπ and other “missing” modes can appear as corresponding ψ partial widths, enhanced by a factor depending on the mixing angle. General arguments then suggest a branching ratio of about 1%, give or take a factor of 2, for charmless hadronic decays of ψ. (iii) Enhancements can appear in penguin amplitudes in B decays, B → Kη branching ratios, and direct CP-violating asymmetries in B → Kπ decays.

The ψ′′ ≡ ψ(3770) particle is the lowest-mass charmonium resonance above DD̄ threshold. It is produced through virtual photons in e+e− collisions, and can serve as a well-defined source of charmed particle pairs [1] in the same way that the Υ(4S) state, lying just above BB̄ threshold, is a good source of nonstrange B mesons. While discovered a number of years ago [2], the ψ′′ is now being exploit...
متن کاملStatus of Ψ ′ ′ Decays to Charmless Final States
The non-DD̄ decays of the ψ′′ = ψ(3770) resonance are discussed and possibilities for further measurements are noted. These decays can shed light on S–D mixing, the “missing” ψ′ = ψ(3686) decays, a possible discrepancy between the total and DD̄ cross sections at the ψ′′, and rescattering effects contributing to enhanced b → s penguin amplitudes in B meson decays. The importance is stressed of mea...
متن کاملΨ ′ ′ Decays to Charmless Final States 1
The ψ ≡ ψ(3770) particle, lying just above DD̄ threshold, is a well-defined source of charmed particle pairs in ee collisions. It is now undergoing high-intensity studies at the CLEO Detector at Cornell [1] and the BES Detector in China [2]. Its couplings to charmless states are of interest for several reasons. (1) The production and decays of ψ depend on its composition of D1, S1, and DD̄ contin...
متن کامل1 5 M ay 2 00 8 The S − D mixing and di - electron widths of higher charmonium 1 − − states
The di-electron widths of ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and ψ(4415), and their ratios are shown to be in good agreement with experiment, if in all cases the S − D mixing with a large mixing angle θ ∼= 34 is taken. Arguments are presented why continuum states give small contributions to the wave functions at the origin. We find that the Y (4360) resonance, considered as a pure 3 D1 state, would have very sm...
